Overview
AmEx’s Spend Management team needed help creating a prototype of an MVP experience so they could secure funding for their team. We structured this engagement as a 2-week design sprint, which was very aggressive, but we made it work.
Business Objective
AmEx has been traditionally known as a business credit card, but there are more and more competitors joining this space and they knew they had to differentiate themselves. Creating a vision to show a more integrated “spend management” experience would help these clients secure funding and approval to move forward with this product discovery work.
Workshop Activities
Even though we didn’t follow the traditional design sprint format for this project, we still wanted to integrate a few of those activities into process. So we worked with the clients to define a goal statement, generate a lot of stickies in Miro, and we even got them to do solution sketches.
Prototype
After using our workshop activities to define the goal and MVP scope of the product, we pivoted to rapid prototyping the future state. We reviewed some of their existing digital products and utilized their designs system to create this new user experience.
